FAQs

Straight answers about membership, verification, opportunities and journals.

About CollabCite

Will CollabCite find me a journal?

No. CollabCite is a collaboration platform, not a journal directory. We help you find co-authors and build credibility through genuine co-authored work.

What we do offer: free Resources on finding good journals, such as those indexed in Scopus or Web of Science, and on spotting predatory ones; and opportunities (calls for papers, book reviews, edited book chapters) that our team checks and emails to members. We never promise or guarantee publication.

What is CollabCite?

A verified, collaboration-only network where academicians find co-authors, build research teams across institutions and grow their academic credibility together.

How is it different from other academic networks?

It is built only for research collaboration. There is no general social feed, no ads, no paid upgrades that lock features, and every member is verified.

What are partner journals?

A small number of zero-fee journals that partner with CollabCite by mutual interest. They may post calls from time to time, but they are not the main reason to join. Every partner must charge nothing to publish, apart from an actual Crossref DOI cost disclosed upfront with proof.

Membership and fees

How much does membership cost?

₹299 a year for Full and Postgraduate Members, and ₹99 a year for undergraduate Student Associates. During our inaugural offer, the first 1,000 academics pay ₹99 and the first 2,000 students pay ₹49 for their first year. All prices include GST.

Which category should I choose?

Full Member if you are faculty, a PhD scholar, a postdoctoral or an independent researcher. Postgraduate Member if you are a master’s student. Student Associate if you are an undergraduate aged 18 or over.

What does my fee pay for?

Member verification, data handling and privacy compliance, journal checks, curating opportunities, and CollabCite’s own research activity.

Can undergraduate students start projects?

Student Associates can join projects and answer calls. They can start a project when a Full Member acts as mentor or co-lead. An authorship agreement is always required, so the student’s contribution is formally credited.

What happens when I move from a master’s to a PhD?

You move up to the next category and keep your membership ID and collaboration history.

Can I get a refund?

If your verification does not succeed, your fee is refunded in full. See the Refund Policy for details.

Verification and privacy

How do you verify members?

Through an institutional email (confirmed with a one-time code), an ORCID iD, or an uploaded faculty, PhD or college ID card checked manually by our team. All members must be 18 or older.

I am an independent researcher without an institutional email. Can I join?

Yes. You can verify with your ORCID iD, or upload documents that show your research work for manual review.

Who can see my details?

You decide. Privacy settings control what other members see and who can contact you. Messages are only possible between members who have accepted contact. We never sell member data. See our Privacy Policy.

What is a membership ID?

A unique, permanent ID such as CC-2026-000123. Anyone can check it on our Verify a Member page, which shows only your name, category and status.

Collaboration and integrity

How do I find a co-author?

Post a collaboration call with the skills you need, answer someone else’s call, join interest groups, or search the member directory by field, method and institution.

Who decides the author order?

The team does, before work starts, using our authorship agreement. It records who contributes what and the author order, which prevents disputes later.

Is citation exchange allowed?

No. Citation trading, citation rings, plagiarism and fake profiles are banned. Breaches can lead to suspension or removal. See our Integrity Policy.

How do I report a predatory journal?

Members can report a journal from their dashboard with evidence such as emails or invoices. Our team reviews every report manually. Reporters’ identities are kept confidential.
