Integrity Policy

The standards of research integrity every member agrees to.

Last updated: October 2026

CollabCite exists to help researchers produce work worth citing. Every member agrees to this Integrity Policy when joining.

1. Be who you say you are

  • One person, one account. No fake, duplicate or shared profiles.
  • Your category, affiliation, qualifications and publications must be accurate.

2. Genuine scholarship only

The following are banned:

  • Citation trading and citation rings: agreeing to cite each other’s work regardless of relevance, or requesting citations as a condition of collaboration.
  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and duplicate publication.
  • Fabrication or falsification of data, results or sources.
  • Gift, guest or ghost authorship: adding authors who did not contribute, or leaving out those who did.
  • Selling or buying authorship, or offering paid writing services through the platform.

3. Fair authorship

Teams record roles, expected contributions and author order in an authorship agreement before work begins, and update it if roles change. Contributions by Student Associates must be credited. We encourage the use of CRediT contributor roles.

4. Respect for collaborators

  • Treat other members’ unpublished ideas, data and drafts as confidential.
  • Do not harass, discriminate against or pressure other members.
  • Do not use member information for marketing or any purpose other than research collaboration.

5. Opportunities and journals

Do not post or promote fee-charging or predatory journals, or ask members for payments. Report any journal that breaks our Journal Standards.

6. Reporting and review

Any member can report a breach. Reports are reviewed manually and confidentially, and the member concerned is given a chance to respond. Outcomes include no action, a warning, suspension or removal from CollabCite. Serious breaches may lead to immediate removal without refund.
